Following the abrupt and mysterious departure of Mayor Murray's "so-called" Chief of Staff, Pete Mingus, on Monday, many of us have been wondering if Jeff Peck, the Mayor's "so -called" Commissioner of Engineering and Public Services, would be the next to quit.
Especially after Monday night's disasterous Council Meeting, where Council informed Murray and Peck that he would not be paid the $70,000 that Murray had originally promised, or even the $65,000 salary that she asked council to approve after the fact. Today's Portsmouth Times reported that, "When that suggestion was made [by the president of council], Peck, sitting behind Murray shook his head 'no'."
Several anonymous sources have told us that Peck and his family, who he is the process of moving here from Kentucky, have been staying at the Ramada Inn for over a week, and billing meals to their room, based on Ms. Murray's assurance that these expenses would be covered by the City.

Great job Mayor Murray!!!!!!!!! We all applaud your arrogance and lack of planning on these extremely important issues. What were you thinking??????? Or were you?? Bringing in people that have no qualifications, not to mention hiring a convicted felon that promised revenge on the people and city that convicted him for his crimes against the city, after firing the ONLY people capable of doing the jobs required by EPA mandates. This only shows what great leadership and foresight you have used to carry out your vindictive management style. Thank you for putting the City and its residents into such a quandary and apparently a somewhat dangerous and expensive situation.
