One Citizen's View of the Recall of Jane Murray

All Things Wildly Considered

  1. 1. Do I insist on living in a Portsmouth of the past, disdaining most reality?
    2. Am I guilty of spreading nothing but negative attitudes about Portsmouth?
    3. Do I actively contribute to building any positive image about Portsmouth?
    4. Am I a person who believes nothing can improve in Portsmouth?

These are 4 GREAT and important questions citizens MUST ask themselves! The Blogger hits the nail on the head! Portsmouth will never be the city of the 1940's and 1950's that our parents remember. We need to reinvent our city while protecting its past and inviting new opportunities for its future. The door to "true" change is standing wide open...who'll take the first step?

With the first council meeting since Jane's "retirement", it will be interesting to see how it goes. No rudness, no door slamming, no superiority flaunting, no exagerating of the truth. Hopefully they will hit the ground running and start doing some really positive things for our town. Looking forward to more honest reporting from you.

  4. I was born and raised in Portsmouth and still consider it my hometown, but have not lived there for quite a while, although I do come back to visit on occasion. Just want to express some thoughts. Kudos to whoever is responsible for all the busines on the right as you enter from 23. It makes Portsmouth look alive again. It has provided jobs, and the revenue from the business has to be a plus. What a great use of what used to appear to be a useless area. Also, putting a traffic light there to make it user friendly is like an open invitation to go there. The one thing that I noticed the last time I was there....why no "turn on red" at so many streets? Another thing that caught my attention was that so many of the direction lines on the roads are very difficult to see. If you don't drive the area reagularly it is just an accident waiting to happen. I realize the Portsmouth of the 50's and 60's will not be back, but that does not mean a better Portsmouth...a modern Portsmouth, cannot become a reality. The new buildings also help to make it look alive again.
